David Wonders, DVM - Owner
David Wonders, DVM, was born in Tampa, FL and grew up in Habersham county. He is a 1983 graduate of Habersham Central High, and has a B.S. in Biology from North Georgia College. He earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Georgia. Dr. Wonders has special interests in small animal soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
He is the past president of the Northeast Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. He and his wife, Paula, are the parents of Emily Grace and Kevin Richard. They have 2 cats named Coconut and Pom Pom, and one dog named White Socks. His hobbies are golf, tennis, and computer gaming. His goal is to continue to make Cornelia and Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital the best general veterinary hospital in northeast Georgia.
Kate DiTulio, DVM
Kate DiTulio, DVM is from Cordova, TN. She received her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Berry College, and graduated in 2015 from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special interests include large animal reproductive medicine and both large and small animal orthopedics. When she's not working, Kate enjoys hiking with her golden retriever, Kylie, and curling up with a good book. Dr. DiTulio is dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care for her patients and to never stop learning.
Carl Williams, DVM
Carl Williams, DVM was raised in the small town of Montezuma, GA. He received his Associates in Science from Young Harris College and a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia. He graduated with his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2012. Dr. Williams loves working with both small and large animals with special interest in ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery. When not at work, he enjoys fishing, kayaking, and backpacking.
Lee Barton, DVM
Lee Barton, DVM is from Hazlehurst, Georgia. He is a 2007 graduate of Jeff Davis High and has an Associates degree in Biology from South Georgia College as well as a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Georgia. Dr. Barton received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia in 2015. He has an interest in small animal cardiology, neurology, and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work, Lee enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and playing with his Rottweiler, Titan. His wife, Nicole, is also a veterinarian.
Jennifer Harris, DVM
Dr. Jennifer Harris graduated from the University of Georgia CVM with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She is pictured with her Labrador, Anney, and two of her three terrier mixes, Elley and Nelley. Her favorite times are spent with her animals and family in the beautiful outdoors at her childhood home in Nicholson, Georgia.
Katie Penland, DVM
Dr. Katie Penland received a Bachelor's in Animal Science from Berry College in Rome, Ga. She obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 from University of Georgia. She has special interests in internal medicine, emergency/critical care and acupuncture. Dr. Penland studied Veterinary Acupuncture and Chinese Traditional Medicine through the Chi Institute of Florida. She belongs to several memberships including American Veterinary Medical Association and Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Penland is originally from Sandy Springs, Georgia and currently lives there with her husband, Seth. Together, they have a full house/farm of furry family members include a cat (Tonka), Australian Cattle Dog (Dixie), a Belgian/ Thoroughbred horse (Scandal) and two miniature goats- (Steve and Rosie). Outside of work, Dr. Penland enjoys doing dressage with her horse, Scandal, as well as playing tennis and doing dog agility with her dog, Dixie.
Tasha is a native to beautiful Habersham County and loves spending time with her family. She began working with us in 2007 as a Receptionist, later she began her training as a Veterinary Assistant, and is now our Practice Manager. With her wonderful husband and her beautiful daughter by her side, together they enjoy trail riding, fishing, and camping. On her down time she loves to sit out on the porch with their 80# lap-dog "Jake" (their yellow lab) and read.
Head of Human Resources
Halie Frankum was born and raised in Habersham County.She is a Certified Dog Trainer and Veterinary Assistant. She has worked for the company for 5 years. She enjoys working in the emergency aspects of the practice as well as surgery. She has experience working in a Zoo as well as an animal shelter. She loves spending quality time with her husband Tyler, daughter Chloe, son Mason and her dog Jack.
Julie was raised on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania. She now shares a farm with her husband, 4 horses, 4 dogs, 5 cats & 2 guineas. Julie loves to share her knowledge of animals with our clients and other employees to make sure that all animals receive the highest quality of care. Julie has been with the company for 18 years.
Jessica has been in the veterinary field for 8 years and holds an associate's degree in veterinary technology. Her interests include critical care nursing, surgery, and working with neonatal patients. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Nathan and family, swimming, and traveling. Her pet family includes three dogs: Princess, Bubba Zeus, and Gypsy girl as well as her cats Molly Boots and Matilda. Jessica has been of our emergency assistants for the past 5 years and her goal is to continue to give our patients the best care that she can.
Amy was born and raised in Clarkesville GA. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family. She loves fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping. She has a dog named Holly and a cat named Patsy.
Tiffany was born and raised right here in Habersham county. After she graduated high school in 2008 she went to North Georgia Technical college to get a degree in Medical Assisting.She found out very quickly that her true passion was with animal medicine than human medicine. One day Tiffany hopes to find a career with exotic animals or even marine biology. In her spare time she loves to go fishing, hiking, and just being able to do any outside activity. Other favorite thing to do outside of work would also have to be playing with her spoiled fur baby Sugar.
Annalise Barron was born and raised in Cornelia, Georgia and is a 2017 graduate of Habersham Central High School. She will be attending the University of North Georgia to pursue her degree in veterinary science. Since she was a little girl she has always had a great love and passion for all animals. In her free time she likes to spend time with her family, including all her dogs, cats, horses and her favorite fur baby, Jax.
Nichole grew up in Banks County. She moved to Habersham 8 years ago when she got married. Nichole enjoys riding Harleys and spending time with her 4 dogs and horse. She has been with us for 11 years.
Laura P. was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. Laura has been with us since 2002. She is our quality control coordinator, marketing coordinator, and head receptionist.
Laura is married to Peter, and they have three daughters (Eleanor, Michelle and Sara) and two granddaughters. In addition to her two-legged kids, Laura also shares her life with her nine dogs and five cats, plus her horses. Her goal is to make sure every client and patient gets the best care possible!
Alex Pruitt was born in Buford, GA and moved to Habersham County at the age of 6. She attended Habersham County High School and graduated in the year of 2015. She has always had a great love for animals and been fascinated by science since she was a little kid. Alex has been a client of Cornelia Veterinary Hospital ever since she first moved here and that is where she grew her passion for veterinary science. Over the years, coming to the vet with an array of animals ranging from cat, dog, rodent, and reptile, she knew that Cornelia Veterinary Hospital was where she wanted her career in veterinary science to begin. She has been an employee at Cornelia Veterinary Hospital since June of 2017 and plans on spending many more years here.
Born and raised in Habersham, Georgia. I have a Jack Russell named Bo who loves to be spoiled and recently I got a bunny named Thumper because she has huge furry paws. I've always been around animals and loved being able to help take care of them and that's what brought me here to Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital. My goal is to work my way up to be a Veterinarian.
